Meet The Team: Chris Smith, Service Delivery

Meet Chris, BookingLive’s Service Delivery Executive. He’s our training wiz, who is always testing our product to ensure it is the best it can be before our clients receive it.
We asked him a few questions about himself and here’s what he had to say…
What is your role at BookingLive?
I am the Service Delivery Executive and I’m responsible for training, site configuration, testing and general support.
If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
Prop builder for sci-fi films/shows, because I loved designing and building things – especially sci-fi, which I love the variety of designs and ideas that appear in sci-fi shows.
What’s on your bucket list?
I’d love to visit the Nordic countries – because I love Nordic landscapes and want to see more of the culture (plus, Vikings/Norsemen are my favourite part of history), see the Northern lights – partly tied into visiting the Nordic Countries, but also, they’re a beautiful sight that I would love to see myself, meet Elon Musk – as I find his ideas and business style fascinating, and be an extra on a sci-fi show – because I’m a nerd.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself having more involvement in the development of software or acting as a technical consultant. I like trying to figure out new solutions to problems, as well as helping people get the most out of what they are using.
What is your favourite part of working for BookingLive?
I love the variety of situations we have to deal with and the great people I work with. Whilst it’s a bit cliche to say that “no two days are the same”, but it’s very true here at Booking Live, you never know what you are going to have to solve or figure out, and there’s always a new challenge. Plus, we have quite a mix of (eclectic) people here at Booking Live, but they make this place what it is, and I enjoy their company.
What advice do you have for prospective BookingLive candidates?
Everyone can make a difference, let’s see what difference you can make here.
How has BookingLive helped you in your career development?
BookingLive have helped me to understand more about software development and testing procedures. Also, they have helped me to come up with creative solutions to requirements.
Finally, do you have any hidden talents?
I can fly a plane – from my time in the Air Cadets and the occasional private lesson since then, I can do a decent Tom Jones karaoke (mostly whilst on a night out), I can fight with a sword – mainly due to my hobby of Live Action Role Playing, and being involved in huge battles, and I can do a pretty good Alan Rickman impression (I’m a fan of Die Hard, and the best way to do a Rickman impression is to try and talk whilst keeping your jaw closed).
