Your Internet Browser Could be Putting Your Booking System Data at Risk

If you use Internet Explorer (IE) version 8, 9 or 10 to access the admin side of your booking system then you could be putting your booking system data and internet usage at risk. This is due to Microsoft rolling out the end of technical support and security updates for these versions back in August 2014.

Reports show that older versions of Internet Explorer make up over 20% of website traffic, with only 50% of Internet Explorer users using the latest version of the browser. Computerworld report that approximately 340 million people still use older versions of Internet Explorer.

NetMarketShare estimate that IE makes up 57% of the browser market, compared with 25% for Chrome, 12% for Firefox and 5% for Apple’s Safari.

To counteract the risk of security breaches Microsoft are encouraging users to upgrade to the latest version of Internet Explorer, IE 11. This latest version of Internet Explorer is the default browser for Windows 10.
